"Never regard study as a duty, but as the enviable opportunity to learn to know the liberating influence of beauty in the realm of the spirit for your own personal joy and to the profit of the community to which your later work belongs." - Albert Einstein

Lorentzian Ether Theory

Ether theory has fallen out of favor in the last 100 years, but there is still a debate as to whether there was ever a good reason to abandon it. This paper attempts to explain the ideas behind the modern concept of the ether and to show that it passes certain obvious tests. The goal of this paper and future papers in this series is to determine in a straightforward way whether ether theory works and if so whether it should replace relativity as the best way to view the universe.

Lessons in Paradoxes

A paradox is an apparently sound argument with an apparently false conclusion. Paradoxes are caused by allowing an unfounded assumption to slip by. Windows Freeware Guide

Recently free software has started to reach its potential and it is now rivaling proprietary software in many ways. Linux really has the best opportunities for free software, but there are still some quality finds that run on Windows. I have collected links to all of my favorite freeware programs, utilities, and desktop enhancements for Windows and listed them with brief descriptions so that everyone can quickly enhance their freeware collection.

Pythagorean Theorem

The Pythagorean Theorem is one of the oldest theorems in existence and also one with the most proofs. However, most of the known proofs are geometrical by nature or at least facilitated by a diagram. I set out to prove the pythagorean theorem using only the most basic geometric facts so that no diagram would be required. The proof that I found turned out to shed some light on the principles at work that make the Pythagorean theorem true.
