X10 Interface

The X10 Firecracker module is a small black box that plugs into your serial port and transmits radio signals to a reciever that can turn your lights on and off. The serial adapter that I made didn't support the DTR and RTS lines that the X10 Firecracker module needs, so I thought I had to build a new adapter, which would require a lot of work. But then I decided to try to connect it through the parallel port, and this turned out to be a quicker solution, though it took me way longer than it should have - I spent about 10 hours working on it because I was having trouble sending data out of the Webpal's parallel port. The transmitter is encased in a box with some cabling as shown in the picture below. My closet is also shown, you can see the black case sticking up from behind the Webpal unit.
